Abstract

The aim of the current study was to explore the predicting effect of thwarted belongingness on suicide risk with the serial mediation of social support and resilience among transgenders. Correlational research design was used. Data was collected through survey method. The sample of the study was comprised of (N= 156) transgenders. The age range of the sample was between18 to 78 (M= 1.72, SD=.70). Thwarted belongingness scale (IPTS; Joiner, 2005; Van Orden et al., 2010) in Urdu language was utilized to rate the level of thwarted belongingness in transgender.  The thwarted belongingness and suicide risk was significantly correlated. Regression analysis showed a significant predicting effect of thwarted belongingness on suicide risk. Serial mediation analysis was carried out through Process Macro Hayes Model 6, the relationship of thwarted belongingness and suicide risk through resilience and social support was found to be significant which proved the existence of serial mediation, findings reveled a full mediation due to a non-significant direct effect and significant indirect effect between thwarted belongingness and suicide risk. T-Test analysis revealed the presence of significant residence differences in thwarted belongingness, suicide risk, resilience and social support. Limitations, suggestions and implications for future studies have also been discussed
