Abstract

This study aims to explore the barriers and challenges within the criminology discipline in Punjab, Pakistan. Using a qualitative research approach, the researcher collected data through an interview guide and in-depth interviews with open-ended questions. The data was gathered from the University of Sargodha in Sargodha, Punjab University Lahore and the University of Lahore in Lahore, Pakistan, involving a total of 12 participants: 8 students and 4 faculty members. By analyzing the data, this qualitative phase highlighted the issues faced by the criminology discipline in Pakistan. Additionally, the study examined the personal experiences of students and faculty towards the criminology discipline to identify the challenges and barriers towards the discipline. The researcher provided suggestions and recommendations to enhance the efficiency of criminology as a discipline in Pakistan
